Developers plan a 55,000-square-foot Publix supermarket and additional space for shops and restaurants in South End, a nod to the growing power of the neighborhoods sprouting along the Lynx Blue line.

The project at South Boulevard and Iverson Way, to be called Shops at South Line, will have two levels of subsurface parking in addition to surface parking, plus 8,500 square feet for other businesses, developers told the Observer on Thursday. Work is expected to start in the spring.
